Hallie Rae Ulrich
Hallie was a gifted young artist whose passion for drawing began in childhood and remained at the heart of her life. Encouraged to be creative from an early age, Hallie and her twin sister, Ellison, transformed the walls of their childhood bedroom into an ever-evolving world of imagination. What began as playful childhood drawings grew into increasingly detailed works, revealing the artistic talent that would shape Hallie's future.
In 2013, Hallie began studying Illustration at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, where her dedication and talent earned her a place on the Dean's List during her first year. She continued to develop her artistic voice while working at an art gallery in Southampton, New York, gaining inspiration from the creative community that surrounded her.
Hallie's belief in the power of art is beautifully reflected in the college essay she wrote for Pratt Institute:
"For as long as I can remember, I have loved to draw. When I was young, I was encouraged to be creative. My sister and I used to draw on the walls of my childhood bedroom. We created a whole world on those walls. We would add to it throughout the years, especially on rainy days. As we grew older, the drawings became more detailed, more realistic, and always imaginative. Through my experiences of making art throughout my life, I've learned that there is a real beauty in the ability to draw. I've found that making art is the best way for me to express myself in a positive way. Hallie passed away in 2017 at the age of 22. Though her artistic journey was far too brief, her drawings and her words continue to inspire others, reflecting a young woman who found hope, purpose, and self-expression through art.
