The Artist Lives was created from the belief that creative lives should not disappear simply because recognition never came during a lifetime.

While the work of well known artists is often preserved in galleries, museums, and archives, countless artists, musicians, and writers leave behind work that remains unseen beyond the people who knew them.

We believe those creative voices matter.

Through dedicated online artist pages, The Artist Lives helps preserve and share these creative legacies so their work can continue to be seen, discovered, and remembered.

More Than a Memorial

“I want my voice heard. In the end that's all people want.” -Ethan Magder (1989 - 2017)

After losing her son Ethan, Andrea Magder discovered his unpublished song lyrics, essays, and the beginning of a novel. As she began sharing his work, she realized she wasn’t alone.

Many families are left with creative work after a loved one dies, often without knowing how to preserve or share it.

Determined that her son’s work would not be forgotten, Andrea founded The Artist Lives, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and sharing the creative work of deceased artists.

How Our Mission Began

Ethan Magder Writer

“As a mom, my greatest hope is that my beautiful son will not be forgotten. I am forever grateful for this site which celebrates my son, Julius, and his musical gift to the world.”

- Sandi Trombino

““It gives me a way to introduce Aaron to people who never got the chance to meet him. If someone asks about him, I can share a photo and his music. And I love knowing that if anyone searches his name, they'll find him on The Artist Lives, with his music."

- Nancy Shea

Seeing my mom’s work online at The Artist Lives was a real thrill and I’m sure she would’ve been excited that her creations will stay out there for all to see.

- Quentin Cline
